LED-powered internet:
The reason behind it is the development done here in the private and public sector. One of the recent milestones achieved by the engineering consultants in Dubai is the LED-powered internet. No one had heard this kind of technology ever before.
Known as the Li-Fi, street lights will be emitting internet through the LEDs. The operation was started in 2016 and it was planned that initially 100 street lights in the Dubai Silicon Oasis will be installed that will emit internet through LED lights.
A UAE based tech firm named as Zero.1 also demonstrated a proof of concept to the journalists in the city and also revealed their future plans on how they are going to expand this project to other cities like Abu Dhabi in the near future.
In a press conference Marc Fleschen the CEO of Zero. 1 told that how this innovative technology can make the lives of people easier. According to him the Light Fidelity (Li-Fi) will be used to provide internet to smart devices through LED bulbs rather than traditional radio waves.
Another surprising thing about this technology is that it is capable of transmitting data up to 224GB per second. Adding more the CEO said that any of the LED can be converted into a wireless router by the addition of a small microchip.
Engineering consultants in UAE are thinking to expand this project to cover full cities. As by this way there isn’t any need to install heavy and expensive equipment. Just the addition of a microchip to the light enables the LED to transmit Li-Fi signals in the surrounding area.
